Noises

My day started with a disconcerting noise; a noise with which I am unfamiliar; an annoying, grating noise. At 5:30 this morning the snow plows came down our street. If I ever heard this noise while I lived in Connecticut, my mind had long since forgotten. Anyway, I went back to sleep soon enough, and when I awoke I had completely forgotten the annoyance. That is until I looked out the window to realize it had snowed the previous evening.

The roads were in fairly good shape, thanks to the plows, so I decided to visit Snoqualmie Falls. It is one of the few Indian names I’ve actually learned to pronounce with out completely giving away that I’m a Southerner. (It is pronounced snow qwal mee.) I just like to say it, spelling it – not so much. The only photos I could get are pretty misty because of – well - the mist. I think it looks pretty cool in black and white though. I discovered that the sound of water dropping 270 feet is so much more beautiful than that of snow plows. Every time I visit a waterfall I'm reminded of Ezekiel 43:2 that says God's "voice was like the roar of rushing waters." There is something incredibly powerful yet calming about the roar of a waterfall.
Since it was a fairly clear day (by Seattle terms), I decided to head back to Kerry View Point on Queen Ann Hill. I wanted to get the shot of downtown and Mt. Rainier. While it was bright and beautiful, there was still cloud cover on Mt. Rainier. I enjoyed the view, but have ultimately failed in my mission again. I'm okay with it though, because now I have another excuse to go back.

Those pictures are beautiful....maybe you should become a photographer! That would be a great job. Get on it!

I've sooo enjoyed taking this trip across the country vicariously through your eyes. Seeing your pictures of Seattle brings back wonderful memories. Don't worry, there will be many more sunny days. Winter is the dreary time of year, but the rest of the seasons make up for it. (It snowed here last nite and has now changed to rain and sleet. Sounds a lot like Seattle.)
If you change your mind and would like to return, Corban is looking for a high school teacher/principal. I wouldn't recommend it.
Happy to hear you are doing so well. I think of you often.

You guys are too nice! I can't take credit for the pictures. I just aim and shoot. Besides making it a job would likely suck all the fun right out of it. Of course, traveling to all the places to get the pictures would be incredibly enjoyable.

I just love that you're becoming a regular blogger with pics and all! It almost feels like you aren't all the way across the country, until I see you online at 12 PM EST. :) Like MA, though, I'm enjoying the vicarious tour of the country and Seattle. Looking forward to seeing it all myself someday!

I'm enjoying doing the blog too. It motivates me to get out and see stuff so I can share the beautiful scenery. I often can’t believe I’m really living in such a wonderful, beautiful place. The blog and scenery have also made me think and write more, which can be good and bad ;-)

I am certainly glad the time change works in my favor so I can manage to stay up "late".
